One Night with the Playboy

Review copy provided via NetGallery in exchange for an honest review
Summary:
Barrel rider Reba Duvall has been crushing on Nick Blue since the moment they met, but she kicked him to the friend zone to keep her heart from being bruised and battered by the charmer… until they turn to each other for comfort when their best friend dies. Reba knows it’s for one night only, but still, it hurts to wake up alone. But it turns out a memory is not all Nick left her with…
Nick Blue never guessed his father was one of the richest men in Texas. Or that he’d have to live in Whiskey River with two unknown brothers for a year to inherit his share of the family property. But hey, stranger things have happened, such as bumping into his friend and one time lover in that same town… the one he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about all this time. But running into Nick is not an accident. Reba has a plan. She wants baby Martina to know her father.
Reba may not know what she wants from Nick, but it sure isn’t a half-assed marriage proposal and sharing a luxurious bedroom at Kelly Ranch. She plans to keep things platonic. Can Nick convince her she needs more than one night with the playboy?
Review:
This short story feels very rushed, and you don’t gain a connection with either Reba or Nick. I didn’t see any grammatical or punctuation errors; that's the only good part of the whole short story. I didn’t know until I went to goodreads that this was book five of a series, but I know that has nothing to do with not gaining a connection with either of the main character in this short story.
Conclusion:
Would I read other books from this Author?  Maybe

Would I recommend this book to others? No

If this a Novel or Novella? Short story

Is this book priced correctly? No, it’s over priced for a short story. If it was a Novella then it would be priced correctly.

Outside The Ropes (Outside the Ropes #1)

Outside the Ropes (Outside the Ropes #1)
By Ashley Claudy

SUMMARY

In the ring, Regan has control. Outside the ropes, she fights to survive.

Regan Sommers spent her life fighting. Fighting foster parents, kids in the group home, and classmates. But the night she has to fight for her life changes everything.

Now, she's fighting for money in the ring, and from the first punch she's addicted. Every addiction has a price though, and this one is the gym's star boxer, Gage Lawson. He may come in an enticing tattooed package, but his demands are more than she can handle.

The responding officer from that night, Anthony Fields, comes with no demands. He wants whatever she's willing to give, and Regan can handle that. She can definitely handle him.

But no help comes string free, and Regan's not the only one with a hard past and scars to cover. The life she was trying to escape is nothing compared to the danger she's in the middle of now, and she can't fight her way out.

REVIEW
Captivating read

I picked this book to read because I found this author on Wattpad.  I had read a different story there and loved it.  In her profile she stated she published this story, so I took a chance.

This book kept me up all night trying to finish.  I couldn't put it down.  It did get irksome because it just continued to steamroll downhill constantly. I can handle drama, but when there seems like no end in sight it gets on your nerves.  I really didn't like Regan at first.  She just seemed like a user the way she used Anthony like she did, but he was a super creep for taking her up on it!  I then realized she had been through hell and was just surviving.  Gage is intriguing and I have a feeling is in a dark place never to get out.  I think I want to read the next book, it kinda left it wide open at the end.
