Every Time He Leaves

Every Time He Leaves
By Anna Karington

SUMMARY
Lana Raeven and Jarek Dean shared a night of passion, but the next morning, she woke up alone. Nine years later, Lana works as a successful event coordinator for a prestigious company. Bold and confident in every area but love, she hasn’t ever recovered from Jarek’s abandonment. However, a chance encounter with her former lover grants her an opportunity to take back her power.

Rather than chastising him for his cruelty, she plays unfazed and invites him back into her life. Using her ingenuity and sensuality as weapons, she draws him in with the intention of destroying him as he once destroyed her. But her plan for revenge isn’t as simple as she initially believed, for the more time she spends with Jarek, the more she’s reminded of why she loved him. And if she isn’t careful, she could lose him all over again.

REVIEW

Run on sentences and give me a break inner dialogue anyone?! This was just not good. Just so I didn't have a DNF I skimmed about 60% because I was irritated. 4 pages of inner dialogue before you get to conversation with someone else or how about a inner dialogue in the middle of the conversation that lasts 3 pages and the reader forgets what the real conversation was....so frustrated.

Then we get to the characters...she wants to be the poor innocent victim and then instead of getting everything out about how she feels she plays games. He wants to come off all wonderful and not own up to what he did. And REALLY you left because of that?!? Then no contact?! YUK just YUK.

PLEASE don't waste your time!

The Cowboy Inherits a Bride

Summary:

When Sunshine Patterson loses her Chicago home, job and boyfriend in one day, she needs a backup plan, fast. Luckily her Aunt Cecily has provided her with the perfect combination living and restaurant space to start over. Even though the building is located in small town Chance Creek, Montana, Sunshine is certain it’s only a matter of time before she’s back to take the big city by storm. When she arrives in Chance Creek, however, she gets a surprise. Her restaurant space—and apartment—are occupied by a rival to her inheritance: the incredibly sexy, incredibly wrong for her, Cole Linden.

Cole’s been struggling to save his family’s holdings for far too long. The indoor rifle range he inherited from his father barely pays its rent, but it’s all that’s keeping his other concerns—two apartment houses—afloat. If he was smart, he’d walk away from all of it and start over, but if he does, several dozen of Chance Creek’s inhabitants will find themselves without a home. He thought Cecily meant to leave him the range building in her will. Instead she’s set him up in a four-month-long competition with her big-city niece to see who will win the place. A niece whose knockout looks are making it damn hard for him to concentrate on the job at hand.

Sunshine can’t believe she’ll have to open a vegan restaurant in a rifle-range waiting room, and she can’t believe she’ll have to share her apartment with Cole, either. Cole can’t believe his friends are falling over themselves to help Sunshine succeed—and get a date with her.

Now the competition is getting hot, but the sparks flying between them are even hotter. Can Cole and Sunshine find a way they both can win?

Review:
This story was very predictable, yet enjoyable.  It was fun to watch Cole and Sunshine try to best each other up and push every button on the plant trying to get them to give up and quiet.  There isn’t much you can say unless you want to give away the full story…
I can say I didn’t find any grammatical errors.

Would I recommend this book to others? Maybe

Aloha Texas

Summary:

Retired navy diver Nicholas Harper likes his new life as captain of a dive boat in Hawaii. Kara Lynn O'Conner is the fifth generation lawyer in her small Texas town where life is easy and safe. Six year old Bradley Russell is about to change everything.

Review:

This story touched my heart. From the first minute Kara and Nick meet you could feel the tension between them and start pulling for them to come together as a couple.  You feel all the different emotions. When Nick goes back to Kona without Kara you’re kicking him in the rear in your head ‘saying stupid stupid stupid’.
I don’t know what else I can say about this book without giving away spoilers…….

I didn’t find any grammatical errors, which just makes the book that much more enjoyable.

Review:
This is a very cute short story, with a very fast pace.  You jump from Beau being saved to the epilogue so you feel like something is missing.  It would have worked better as a Novella instead of a short story.
I didn’t find any grammatical errors, which always makes reading easier and so much better….

Conclusion:

Would I recommend this story to others? NO

Would I read other books from this Author? It’s debatable at this time…

Is this story a Novel or Novella? Neither it’s a Short Story

Is this priced correctly? YES

Saving Scarlett

Summary:

Scarlett Jamison, the daughter of a powerful alpha wolf, knows her freedom is slowly slipping away. As a Breeding Queen, her hereditary destiny is to be given away to a male of her father’s choosing. She’ll have no say in the choice of her mate; her only duty will be to give her future mate as many pups as he wants. What her father doesn’t know, though, is that Scarlett took her best friend Melody’s wedding as an opportunity to spend the night with two amazing male mountain lions. They rocked her world and stole her heart, and then she had to leave them behind and cut all contact. Even though her heart protests that Wesley and Ray Fiero are her truemates, she has no choice but to obey her father…until a certain quirk in her DNA changes everything.

Ray and Wesley won’t give up on Scarlett. One night was not nearly enough for them. Finding Scarlett turns out to be easy. Taking her back to Ashland to live happily ever after? Now, that’s going to be dangerous. Ray and Wesley are willing to go to any length to protect Scarlett’s right to choose them no matter the cost, but when an innocent life is on the line, will the payment for her disobedience be blood?

This book contains one female who has her choices taken from her, two males determined to make her theirs, and a pride willing to help. Expect plenty of m/f/m interaction, abundant use of the word ‘mine,’ and inappropriate use of a horse statue.

Review:

I’m a huge fan for most of R.E. Butler’s stories, and have thoroughly enjoyed this series. However, the same thing happens in each book and it’s getting very old.  I can say there are no grammatical errors, the flow of the book is spot on, and you feel the emotions.  With this being said that is the only good part of the book.

Conclusion:

Would I recommend this book to others? NO

Would I read other books by this Author?  That’s up in the air.. I’m getting sick of the same plot lines in all the books within a series.  She needs to come up with new and exciting plotlines before I’ll ever buy another one of her books.

Is this a Novel or Novella? It’s a Novella on the longer side just 20 pages being shy of a Novel.

Is this book priced correctly? YES

REVIEW
Not bad for 80 pages. Short easy read. I didn't read the other books, but I wasn't lost so you can read without the rest. Interesting storyline and how it played out. I found the ending kind of shocking and really couldn't believe he was going to keep it from her after they promised no more secrets. The sex was ok nothing out of this world hot. It seemed rushed and I think the author could have turned this into a real novel and developed everyone better. I don't think it is worth .99. It should be free. I thought about buying the other books, but they are $7.99 each...sorry not that curious.

Having Katie back could mean the beginning of everything they've ever wanted or the end to the only family they've ever known.

REVIEW
Not sure how I felt about this book. I wanted a hot and sexy ménage with a good story. I just wasn't feeling it. They just didn't seem to have the chemistry to pull me in and the story was lack luster. She had issues, but they were explained away so quickly or resolved in a blink of an eye and the thing with the town finding out was kinda dumb. It was no one's business what they do. This was not my cup of tea. I love reading kink, but when I feel it is all superficial and didn't seem like it had emotions it is not for me. When I then found out that the story is $4.99, I really had a bad taste for the book. It is not worth that much!

And when yet another murder happens, Cal and Barry are both driven to pursue their investigations, no matter where they lead. Evil deeds long thought buried are about to haunt the residents of this town—as the sins of the past and present collide with terrifying results.

Review:

Sadly this story is a DNF I read over 100 pages and couldn’t connect to the story line or any of the characters. I love a good mystery and most I have no problems connecting with the story line or characters, but this it felt like a mess of thoughts it didn’t flow well you kept jumping around and it took you half the new chapter to figure out what was going on.  To me this is a poorly written story….

Conclusion:

Would I recommend this book to others? NO

Would I read other books from this Author? Maybe

Is this book a Novel or Novella? Nice length Novel

Is this book priced correctly? YES and NO…..    The hardcover price is in the range I would pay for a great book, but the Kindle edition is way over priced…  I’m a budget buyer and would never pay more than $9.99 for a Kindle edition, even if it was from my top Author.

Wolf on the Hunt (Salvation Pack, #5)

Wolf on the Hunt (Salvation Pack, #5)
By NJ Walters

SUMMARY
Drawn to Salvation by her passion for nature, Gray Everson’s looking forward to some peace and quiet to work on her paintings. She didn’t expect hunters shooting up the forest around the cabin she rented. And she certainly didn’t expect to find a wounded wolf.
It’s only after Gray sends the hunters packing that she realizes the creature hidden in her cabin is no ordinary wolf. He’s a ruggedly handsome man with an extraordinary ability Gray thought only existed in fiction.
Louis LaForge has given up on finding a mate and channels all his energy into protecting his pack. But his instant attraction to a skittish artist is more than simple lust. There’s something about Gray he just can’t put his finger on—until he gets close enough to touch her.
Louis is sure of what he wants, but pushing Gray too far, too fast is risky. The hunters aren’t going away peacefully, and Louis’s former pack is coming for him. When the final battle comes, there will be only one way to protect everyone he loves.
REVIEW
The best one of the series!  This one was very good and very heart touching.  Two people who just don't fit in find each other!  Gray is a very strong lead.  The others in the series are strong too, but she just spoke to me.  Louis was gentle yet alpha in all the same breath!  I am glad the lone original member of the pack to be happy!  I was worried about him from the first book.  I am glad the guys finally took care of their main threat, glad the mama's could help too!
Again great hot sex..NJ Walters' men are a wonder in themselves.  Too bad they are fiction!
I received a copy from NetGalley this time for a review.  That is why I read books 1-4 before!  I am hooked and would have bought it anyway!  I am onboard for the next!  Hopefully someone in the pack will makes some babies!  LOL!

A Girl's Guide to Moving On

Review copy provided via NetGallery in exchange for an honest review

Summary:

In this powerful and uplifting novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber, a mother and her daughter-in-law bravely leave their troubled marriages and face the challenge of starting over. Leaning on each other, Nichole and Leanne discover that their inner strength and capacity for love are greater than they ever imagined.

When Nichole discovers that her husband, Jake, has been unfaithful, the illusion of her perfect life is indelibly shattered. While juggling her young son, a new job, and volunteer work, Nichole meets Rocco, who is the opposite of Jake in nearly every way. Though blunt-spoken and rough around the edges, Rocco proves to be a dedicated father and thoughtful friend. But just as their relationship begins to blossom, Jake wagers everything on winning Nichole back—including their son Owen's happiness. Somehow, Nichole must find the courage to defy her fears and follow her heart, with far-reaching consequences for them all.

Leanne has quietly ignored her husband's cheating for decades, but is jolted into action by the echo of Nichole's all-too-familiar crisis. While volunteering as a teacher of English as a second language, Leanne meets Nikolai, a charming, talented baker from Ukraine. Resolved to avoid the heartache and complications of romantic entanglements, Leanne nonetheless finds it difficult to resist Nikolai's effusive overtures—until an unexpected tragedy tests the very fabric of her commitments.

Review:

You never go wrong when you pick up a book written by Miss Debbie, she has a way of connecting with her readers. Her characters feel like they are your next-door neighbor, and you’re watching their lives; you feel each and every emotion. You laugh, cry, and get mad all within a few pages. The development of the story line, as well as the characters is complete; you never feel as if something important is left out. The flow and pace of the story is perfect.

This was a story I could identify with as 24 years ago shortly after I got a divorce God put a wonderful man in my life when I wasn’t even looking to get into another relationship. I trusted God and I’ve been blessed everyday since.

You don’t run into any grammatical errors, so you know the writer and editors care about the product they are producing.

Conclusion:

Would I recommend this book to others? YES

Would I read other books written by this Author? Yes, and have.

Is this a Novel or Novella? Novel

Is this book priced correctly? Yes & No  I’m budget buyer and I won’t pay the prices for the Paperback or Kindle, but would pay the price for a hardcover since she is an author I enjoy reading and would reread each book I bought.

Wolf from the Past (Salvation Pack, #4)

Wolf from the Past (Salvation Pack, #4)
By NJ Walters

SUMMARY
Sylvie LaForge Dubois knew coming back from the dead wouldn’t be easy, but facing her brother and his friends is harder than she imagined. The way Gator Rollins watches her every move makes her decidedly uneasy and excited.

After surviving a forced mating to the abusive Andre Dubois, having a rugged, dangerous werewolf like Gator sniffing around her is scary and thrilling at the same time. She never imagined she’d want another man, but her bone-deep attraction to Gator is too strong to fight.

Gator never got a chance to tell Sylvie he loved her before she was mated with another and, well, died. Now that she’s back, there’s nothing he won’t do to protect her.

Once word gets out, Sylvie’s former pack will be coming for her. No one leaves the Louisiana pack, especially not a female werewolf. But Gator’s determined that this time he won’t let anyone or anything get between him and Sylvie, even if she can’t decide if his touch makes her want to jump his bones…or run for the hills.

REVIEW
Wow just a great series. This one was good too. Different twist again! Gator was one of my favorite pack members so I am glad he got a HEA, for now. It he story line did go fast and it rolled out in just a couple of days. It was instant wham bam! I hope the next book gives Louis his HEA. I felt sorry for him at the end.

Sex is HOT, NJ Walters knows how to write it. All her men sure know how to make a woman feel good!

On to the next...again pricey book :). But I can't stop reading
