Seared on My Soul
By Cole Gibsen
SUMMARY
She’s so young, so full of life…
I couldn’t let her die…
Even if she made the world’s worst coffee.
Emily Garret never asked to be rescued, let alone by a walking JCrew ad whose idea of fun is probably managing his stock portfolio and watching the nightly news. Then again, she never thought she would wind upside-down in a ditch after a night having a little too much fun.
Reece Montgomery never planned on being anyone’s hero, especially the foul-mouthed, bleach-blonde barista from the local coffee shop. He thinks there’s more to Emily than her tattoos, and lip ring, but getting close means letting her into his past and meeting his ghosts.
And he’s not sure she’s ready for that battlefield.
REVIEW
What a good read. I had to read till finished.
Very touching book. How two broken people find each other and kinda in a round about inspire each other to find themselves and heal.
Reece and Emily can't be any more different, but in ways so much the same. Emily is a little lost girl that just wants to find herself, but you can see the compassion and love she has when she rescues Reece from a PTSD attack and starts his journey to healing. I love her rocking tattoos and her so I like sex that doesn't make me a slut. Reece is a down right hero and it is sad the guilt he holds on to.
The only thing that didn't get it 5 stars and that the author glossed over the separation period and we didn't get a real picture of what Reese went through. It advanced 3 months with a page turn. The end felt rushed too.
Sweet emotional read
Received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley for a honest review.
