Drakon's Promise (Blood of the Drakon)

Drakon's Promise (Blood of the Drakon)
By N.J. Walters

SUMMARY
Darius Varkas is a drakon. He's neither human nor dragon.

He's both.

He's also the target of an ancient order who want to capture all drakons for their blood. When fresh, a drakon's blood can cure any illness and prolong a human's life, and the Knights will stop at nothing to get it.

When librarian Sarah Anderson stumbles across a rare book belonging to the Knights of the Dragon, she's quickly thrust into a dangerous world of secrets and shifters and things she never would have believed possible. When the Knights realize Sarah has a secret of her own, she becomes just as much a target as Darius. Her scary dragon shifter just might be her best chance at survival.

REVIEW
Well that just sucked me in and didn't let go!

Great start to the new series.  Lots of interesting plot twists and action.  It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading it.   I truly didn't know how it would end.

Darius is HOT and not a jerk!  You don't have to hate him and then learn to like him.  You like him from the start and learn to love him.  He doesn't go all alpha male and make all the decisions.  He is powerful in his own right and very interesting.

Sarah is a great female lead.  She never did anything dumb or make a bad choice having you bang your head in your kindle.  She was smart and didn't take any crap.  Loved her.

Interesting take on knights and dragons.   The characters are intriguing even the bad guys!  Can't wait for more!

Deny (Jericho,Brotherhood, #3)

Deny (Jericho Brotherhood, #3)
By Jade Chandler

SUMMARY
In the third installment of Jade Chandler's down-and-dirty Jericho Brotherhood motorcycle club series, two hard cases deny the beyond-carnal bond that forms between them…until it's almost too late

When we f*ck I forget my name, but I never planned to love her.

I never thought I'd make her my old lady.

From our very first scene, we've been fighting for control. She's the one woman who can bring me to my knees, make me beg. Make me feel.

Now I need to give it all up to save her.

Fury is my weapon when I confront the enemies bold enough to lay hands on my gorgeous Marr. Raw rage is what's fueling my fight against the ones who want to end everything the Brotherhood stands for.

We're on the brink of war and I will burn this club to the ground before I let them hurt my woman again.

REVIEW
I am not sure how I feel about this addition to the series. I had a really hard time getting into the story. It was not the writing or the character development, I think it maybe that I never liked Jericho so I just couldn't really like his story. Plus I don't get into pain. It is not for me and does nothing for me. I can handle restraints and all the other kink, but whips, rods, crops, paddles.....not for me. There is a great deal of kink in the story that is all about pain.

I liked Marr but at times she was just too aggressive. She had a great deal of insecurities. I think we needed a tad more of her backstory to truly love her. She sure knew how to beat the crap out of someone for sure. My girl Avery was involved and I loved her again.

Jericho....still not thrilled with him. He is his arrogant self, but he is fighting for his President title. He does try and set things right.

The plot seemed to drag a tad and there was a ton of sex...a ton. It really picked up at the end and I couldn't put it down. I did have an issue at the end though. I just don't get I love you, but let's have sex with other people. That is just a big no in my book.

So I am really conflicted on how I feel about the whole story. I guess a 3 1/2.

Campbell's Redemption: A Highland Pride Novel

Campbell's Redemption: A Highland Pride Novel
By Sharon Cullen

SUMMARY
Like his ancestors, Iain Campbell, the Marquess of Kerr, swears loyalty to whichever government happens to be in power. Privately, however, he despises the British for the slaughter following the Battle of Culloden and finds himself playing a dangerous game of deception. When he defends a fellow Scot under cloak of darkness, Iain is wounded and must put his life in the hands of a mysterious healer. The prickly, bewitching woman saves him with her touch, though she denies Iain the pleasure of a smile from her sensuous lips—which only makes him want her all the more.

Cait Campbell has no fondness for the marquess and his political machinations. Now he makes a treacherous patient, since Cait is harboring Jacobite fugitives in her cellar. But with Iain confined to bed rest, Cait sees another side of the fierce warrior. How can she hate a man whose eyes sparkle in candlelight, a man whose voice stirs her soul? She soon discovers that he loves the Scottish people deeply—and, despite her painful intuitions, Cait is tempted to let Iain love her, too.

REVIEW
I just could not for the life of me get into this story. The other two were so good and pulled me in, this one was a total let down.

I really didn't care for either of the characters. They seemed to have no spark between them. I figured out who was the killer right way so there was no big reveal.

This was a disappointment.

Hers to Heal (Black Eagle Ops, #2)

Hers to Heal (Black Eagle Ops, #2)
By Vonnie Davis

SUMMARY
Navy SEAL Reece Browning sacrificed body and soul in the line of duty. He survived torture at the hands of America’s enemies, but lost his career and his voice in the process. Traumatized and desperate to get his PTSD under control, Reece escapes to Eagle Ridge Ranch. Under the big Texas sky, he finds peace, a renewed sense of purpose—and a woman who makes him feel like a man again. Her smile lights up his dark days, and her caress helps him forget the night terrors.

Ex-Marine Gina Wilson also bears painful scars: emotional wounds inflicted by men she once trusted with her life. She has fought hard to overcome her demons and build a good life for her daughter, and Reece is too intense, too damaged, too raw to let into her heart. Yet she’s drawn irresistibly to his steely gaze and heated embrace. No one else understands what it’s like to suffer in silence. And when Gina’s daughter is threatened, it’s Reece who risks everything to save the day.

REVIEW
3.5 stars.

It was a good book to read during Veterans Day. I really loved Reece. He went through hell and came out on the other end. His relationships with his brothers at arms was touching. His heart was made of gold. He was very sext too.

Gina at times was very infuriating and so unfair to Reece. I know she had issues too, but she just rained them down on Reece without any forethought. I am glad the members of Reece's family put her in her place. Now I know she is a mom and your child comes first, but you don't have to be so cruel. Piper at times was WAY over the top. I know the author wanted her at the front of the story, but she got very annoying quick.

Now the recovery of Reece seemed to go at light speed. It did state he had been seeing Gina for therapy for awhile so he did interact with her longer then it seemed. But it did seem he came out of his not talking fast.

Emotional read. I would like to read the next on.

REVIEW
This picked up literally where the last book ended. I liked it, but I am conflicted about it. I just couldn't get into Darrius' character. I felt he was a spoiled neglected rich kid who paid too much attention to what others thought about him. And for someone who could see how cruel and evil his father was he still believed everything he said. The way his father treated Allie said it all and I don't understand why that didn't open his eyes in the first place! I really couldn't see how all his actions meant he loved Taylor. He just seemed to be doing all for himself.

I loved Taylor though and I admire her for the journey she went on to find herself. I did almost get to the point where I wanted her not to be with Darrius. Allie and Micah are still going strong. Allie was giving out advice left and right. The story left much up in the air and again the third book is set up to go.

But secrets never stay secret for long, and when she finds her plaid, her memory returns and she flees. Malcolm is forced to make a difficult choice to win her back, facing his darkest fears and his worst enemy for a chance at true love.

REVIEW
Sweet read! The story was very good and the plot kept you interested to see what would happen when all the secrets would come out. Malcolm had lots to learn and "Ronat" helped him open his heart and mind to his kinsmen.

It dragged a touch but picked up at the end. Characters were well developed and their motives interesting. Good read.

REVIEW
ZZZZZZZ.....what oh yeah give me a minute to wake up...oh I am supposed to write a review?

I just have to say this was a total snore fest. Boring, predictable, and you could skip chapters without missing anything. The apex of the story was not thrilling or believable because you knew darn well it wasn't true.

There was tons of dirty talk...yet it was the same dirty talk every time. I really didn't feel the wow factor at all with them.

Oh well. You might like it, it just wasn't for me :(
