Icing (Aces Hockey, #2)
By Kelly Jamieson
SUMMARY
Duncan Armstrong may be an NHL star, but he’s a country boy at heart. His ultimate fantasy is going home with the Stanley Cup, not a gold-digging airhead who aspires to be a trophy wife and nothing more. Newly single and hoping to enjoy a night out with his teammates, he ends up hitting it off with a down-to-earth waitress who’s a complete breath of fresh air—until Duncan learns that she’s a part-time model. He tries to forget about her, but their sizzling chemistry has him coming back for more.
Amber is working hard to put herself through school, and has zero interest in dating a professional athlete. She’s seen firsthand how fame and fortune can mess with their heads—her father’s brilliant football career ended in a firestorm of addiction and infidelity. So Duncan’s attentions immediately have her on the defensive. Still, there’s something different about him. And once she stops trying to freeze him out, irresistible temptation turns into all-consuming passion.
REVIEW
It was a decent read. We had instant attraction and love in this book, so if you don't like that this isn't for you. You kinda gotta like hockey too.
Where to start....Duncan. Well he was a hot hockey player with apparently no luck with women. They all just used him for his money. For a star athlete he sure had hang ups about himself and if he was good at sex. It was surprising that the author actually wrote him like that, but refreshing at the same time. He was hot and sweet. He just wanted to help and I can see how people took advantage.
Amber well actually she kinda made me upset. She suffered from Bella Swan syndrome...don't buy me anything I can handle everything myself and don't buy me anything. Yuk, it gets old and she sounds ungrateful and bitchy and you just want to smash her face in cause she is really hurting the sweet sexy guy that really loves her. DUH! I did like that Duncan would call her on it but he was way too nice. Amber had family issues..crazy ones, but still didn't give her the right to act like that.
It was a sweet story and of course the predictable curveball happens and all heck breaks loose. If you can deal with all that you will like it. You can read it without reading the first one. Enjoy!
