To Desire a Highlander (Scandalous Scots #2)

To Desire a Highlander (Scandalous Scots #2)
By Sue-Ellen Welfonder

SUMMARY
Proud, passionate Lady Gillian MacGuire is known as the Spitfire of the Isles. She can take care of herself and hasn't yet met a man who could impress her . . . especially not Donell MacDonnell, the odious older man she was promised to five years ago. She's been dreading his return, but when her intended comes back to claim her, she's stunned at how different he seems. The man she swore she would spurn forever now invades her thoughts, her dreams, and her heart.

An Unexpected Desire

When Roag agrees to assume the identity of the recently deceased MacDonnell chieftain, no one warns him that the man was betrothed. As a member of the King's Fenris Guard, he is oath-bound to embark on whatever mission the crown gives him. Of course, he was expecting a battle—not a bride. Yet after sharing one kiss with Lady Gillian, the powerful Highlander becomes the one seduced and captivated. Now giving in to temptation could ruin them both.

REVIEW

Received a copy from NetGalley for a review

What a kick butt story! I loved it from the first page and couldn't put it down. The characters were tremendous! They were strong and enduring. They were real life and even with all their strengths they had their weaknesses and insecurities. Roag was a great hero with duty and honor on his mind. He tried to be harsh and rude, but it just wasn't in him. He had such a kind heart and soul and Gillian brought it out in him. I loved Gillian. For once a historical romance novel had a strong woman from the start to the finish of the book. She loved Roag but she didn't have to depend on him to breathe. She knew what could happen, yet stepped up to the plate. I like the ghost part of the story too, the end made me cry. Roag learned the value of friends and family and most of all his loyalty to his friends benefitted him in the end. Great read!
